From the rare Sixth Edition of Road Maps with Index The Metropolitan Area and Environs. Roads in existence at the time are shown in brown, unmade roads are shown as two lines only. Transport routes by rail are shown as are the Postal Districts (a new addition) and all Localities, as before. This was the first edition to acknowledge and illustrate on the cover the soon to be completed Narrows Bridge, and the first to include the Roleystone, Araluen area.
In the foreword the Minister for Lands said, The Metropolitan Road Guide Book prepared by the Mapping Branch of the Department of Lands and Surveys under the direction of the Surveyor General has been revised, and is now presented in its sixth edition. All the information contained herein has been thoroughly checked from official records, so that its authenticity may be relied upon. It is felt that this new edition upholds, the standard hitherto established, and that it will prove of equal utility for business purposes, or home use. Apart from the index, other useful and relevant information has been added, including a map of the Roleystone-Araluen area. Attention is directed to the explanatory notes on the maps immediately preceding the Map Section.
The cover design is in anticipation of the completion of the bridge now under construction over the Swan River.
I desire to record my appreciation of the work of the Surveyor General, the Superintendent of the Mapping Branch and his staff for the preparation, and the Government Print for the printing of this attractive and useful publication the contents which are commended for study by all West Australians
