Carmelo Galea, a member of the Maltese dynasty of artists, originally started by Joseph Galea.
Joseph Galea was tutored by renowned artist Edward Caruana Dingli and established the Galea Gallery in the 1920’s. He became the Official War Artist for the British during the conflict and unfortunately the Gallery was bombed at this time. It was rebuilt after the war where it still stands today. Joseph’s son Edwin; a celebrated international artist in his own right; still runs the original Gallery and art shop today.
