The map depicts topographical and geographical features.

The firm of Thomas Kelly, famous for Kelly’s Directory, was founded in 1799 and carried on the Paternoster Row tradition of publishing atlases and similar compendia of useful information, copiously illustrated, for the growing middle class readership. It is noted in the British Museum archives that Kelly ran his printing business from 16 Paternoster Row in 1803 and 17-53 Paternoster Row from 1815 – 1830.
