It is incredibly detailed showing all railways, stock routes, tracks, the Telegraph line, rivers and creeks, ranges and hills. All bores and waterholes are shown including wells, native wells, rock and water holes, springs, billabongs and lagoons, showing the importance of water. Also shown are the Goldmining Districts gazetted between 1887 and 1919
All Pastoral Leases, Grazing Licences, Permits and Miscellaneous leases are highlighted in colour, Pastoral and Miscellaneous Leases in terracotta and Grazing Licences and Permits in Green. All owner’s names, whether a company, a mission or an individual are denoted with the size of the Lease or Permit shown in square miles.
All gazetted Aboriginal Reserves are annotated, a reminder of cruel policy of control and seperation which was constantly being re-enforced by both State and Federal Acts starting as early as the 1830’s.
