Aitape-Wewak Campaign, New Guinea, Nov 1944 – Aug 1945

SKU: MA0191 Categories: , , ,

Original rare antique printed colour map showing the Australian movements during this famous last controversial campaign of WWII. Australia went into battle in New Guinea on the 23 January 1942 and combat finally ended on 15 August 1945 during the Aitape-Wewak Campaign. On the verso of the map the New Britain and Bougainville Campaign are shown. This map was inserted loosely in the publication Stand Easy which was published by The Australian Military Forces by The Australian War Memorial and is normally misplaced. The Editor at the time did states should the maps be mislaid it will not be possible to replace them. This is a significant addition to any Collection of WWII maps or ephemera.
