Wonderful WWII Era rare Australian Advertising World map showing the British Empire, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Belgian possessions. The countries boundaries are delineated prior to the outbreak of war; and where they stood (to the best of the cartographer’s knowledge) at the time of printing. We can see that the wartime boundaries are shown after the creation of Vichy France (July 1940) and prior to the German invasion of Russia (June 1941). In the cartouche it states ‘In wartime buy Australian. Alba is entirely Australian’.
