Wonderful chromolithographed detailed geological map of Scotland with an inset of the Orkney and Shetland Islands by John Bartholomew & Co for the Edinburgh Geographical Institute was published separately in The Settlements and Roads of Scotland by Grace Meiklejohn M.A.  The map printed under the direction of Sir Archibald Geikie, Director General of Geological Survey from 1882 to 1901, this being a later edition.

The map shows all geological formations with an extensive Reference note to Colours and Signs with seven Sections showing different areas in relief.
